Summary: The San Diego County Board of Education shall provide the highest quality education for
students in County Office operated programs, and will support local school boards in
providing the same for their students while acknowledging each board's responsibility to
represent and serve their community.
This will be accomplished by the San Diego County Office of Education providing quality
services, effective and efficient use of resources, and innovative leadership to school
districts and working collaboratively to meet the educational needs of students and
expectations of the public so that each student in San Diego County has access to the
highest academic preparation and the means to meet expectations for success.
Through its leadership, accessibility, support, accountability, and technology, the SDCOE shall:
1. Provide challenging and relevant educational programs for students in County Office operated programs. 2. Assist districts to accelerate achievement for all students and eliminate the achievement gap, with a focus on English learners, low-performing schools, the health and well being of students, and professional development for teachers and other school personnel. 3. Assist all districts in anticipating and responding to current and future challenges and trends in education, with special attention to small districts. 4. Increase parent, business, and community participation in schools and build public confidence and trust in public education. 5. Maximize resources to improve the quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of school districts and the County Office.
